Iran Eyes 20mt Petchem Export this Calendar Year
TEHRAN, Jan. 02 (Shana) — A senior Iranian petrochemical official says Iran’s export of petrochemical products will hit 20 million tons by the end of the current Iranian calendar year to March 21 2017.
Farnaz Alavi, director of planning and development at the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), said Iran’s petrochemical production capacity will hit 64 million tons by the end of the year, adding the country supplies 46.5 million tons of petrochemical last year.
Iranian petrochemical plant processed 29 million tons of petrochemicals in the first 7 months of the current year which is expected to reach 51 million tons by the yearend.
She said Iran’s exports of petrochemical products stood at 11.6 million tons in the first 7 months of this year. Besides, 8.5 million tons were sold on the domestic markets during the period.
The official said the value of Iran’s petrochemical exports is estimated to reach $9b by the yearend.
The country earned 9.6 billion dollars by exporting petrochemicals last calendar year.
